Susan Benson

Susan, who works in the disablement services centre at The James Cook University Hospital, Susan Bensonwent out of her way to help a very distressed patient who was stuck in the cold, alone, in Middlesbrough town centre as her new electric wheelchair had lost a wheel and she was worried how to get home to Saltburn. Despite the centre being extremely busy, Susan tracked down a taxi firm willing to help and kept in telephone contact with the patient to reassure her help was on its way.

Stephen Bell

As a health and safety advisor, Stephen was approached by the Trinity Holistic Centre for advice on a project to develop the centre’s garden into a therapeutic space for patients. But he didn’t stop there!Stephen Bell

Stephen then used his own time and contacts to round up support from across the trust and Carillion, fundraised and worked closely with a team from Camelot who devoted their time and materials. In just nine weeks, the garden had a vegetable patch and an array of raised beds and it’s a real hit with patients, carers and staff.
