Angela Seward (lead governor)
I was an in-patient at the Friarage Hospital in January 2013 and was so impressed with the excellent care and attention I received that I decided to become a member of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I moved to the North East in 2011 from Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes, where we had lived for 32 years. I was a school governor for 16 years, in primary, middle and secondary schools, during a time of major changes in education, funding and management.
In 2009, I won an award from Stony Stratford Town Council for my work as chair of the Neighbourhood Action Group – a partnership working with Milton Keynes Council, the police and the fire service to create a safer environment for the local community and our schools. During my working life, I held a number of posts, the most rewarding of which was teaching adults with mental and learning disabilities, demanding a high degree of patience, empathy, effective team working and good communication.
