About the Orthopaedic Trauma Society
Founded in 2011, the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (OTS) plays a key role in maintaining and advancing the standards of orthopaedic trauma in the United Kingdom. It provides a representative body for British orthopaedic trauma to Government, national bodies and organisations, and international organisations.
Additionally, OTS offers:
- A forum for orthopaedic trauma surgery in the British Isles
- A focus for orthopaedic trauma research, training and education
- Regular scientific meetings on orthopaedic trauma
OTS education
OTS remains one of the most active specialist societies in terms of education for our members at all stages of their careers. OTS have delivered trauma revalidation sessions at British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) for several years and have collaborated with BOA trauma and other specialist societies to provide up to date guidance and discuss challenging cases.
OTS offer bursaries to members who wish to undertake visits to other trauma centres, to gain knowledge, skills and ideas that can be brought back to their unit for the improvement in their patient’s care.
The OTS website displays information on trauma fellowships and courses throughout the UK, as well as links to educational resources provided by the OTS, national bodies and international partners.

Mr Andrew Gray, a consultant orthopaedic surgeon here at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the current communications and website lead for the OTS.
As well as a redesign of the OTS website, with the addition of sections for trauma courses, rolling journal updates and and access to classic papers and case examples, Andrew is open to suggestions about how he can improve the OTS site.
