Step into Health

The trust has signed up to Step into Health, a programme created by the NHS, in conjunction with Walking with the Wounded and The Royal Foundation, to support and facilitate Military Service Leavers in their transition to civilian employment.

This follows a pilot which started in 2014 in East Anglia and was expanded to include other trusts including Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust who have been successfully running the programme for two years.

78% of veterans who completed their work placement during the pilot went on to secure employment within the NHS.

The NHS Step into Health programme offers potential employees the opportunity to understand whether working for the NHS and the potential career path is right for them.

This includes information events and bespoke work experience tailored to each individual.  Placement opportunities can be in either clinical or non-clinical roles and are available to any rank.

For more information about Step into Health placements here at South Tees please contact Jessica Matthewman at jessica.matthewman@nhs.net or Rachel Foden at r.foden@nhs.net.  For general enquiries and guidance about the scheme please contact Step into Health programme lead, Ruth Anderson on ruth.anderson6@nhs.net.

Step into Health is delivered through a partnership between military organisations and the NHS.
