For as long as he can remember Daniel Anczarski was told the abnormal growth on his neck was incurable – experts said it was too dangerous to even attempt to remove it as there was a risk he could bleed to death. But two specialist consultants at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have teamed up to successfully treat the vascular malformation birthmark with a series of carefully administered injections which have delivered “miraculous” and life-saving results.

Stammering rocks! So say the young people and their parents who attend a regular speech and language therapy fluency group in Middlesbrough, run by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Speech and Language Therapy Department. The group wants people to keep their eyes peeled when out and about across Teesside for one of their brightly painted rocks, which are decorated with messages about how it feels to have a stammer.
