Volunteers needed for Macmillan centre

Volunteers are needed for the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The information service will move into The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, currently under construction and due for completion this autumn, and up to 20 new volunteers are required to support the existing service and new development.

Patients are being urged to take their medication with them when they go into hospital. Statistics from The James Cook University Hospital reveal that as few as 35% of patients remember to pack any medication they are already using when they attend hospital.

David Lewis searched all over the country to find a surgeon who would operate on him when he was diagnosed with a tumour in his chest that was precariously difficult to reach. Then he was referred to Joel Dunning, a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Norovirus #DontSpreadTheDread

People are advised to stay home should they get Norovirus this winter as South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust launches its #DontSpreadTheDread campaign. Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, is highly contagious and the trust is reminding people not to visit hospitals,  GP surgeries or  care homes until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.
