With the extreme weather across the North East and North Cumbria, the region’s NHS has urgent guidance for patients, staff and the public. Urgent and emergency care services across the region’s hospitals are continuing to run as usual, however, please only attend if absolutely necessary as services are extremely busy.
Volunteers are needed for the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The information service will move into The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, currently under construction and due for completion this autumn, and up to 20 new volunteers are required to support the existing service and new development.
People are advised to stay home should they get Norovirus this winter as South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust launches its #DontSpreadTheDread campaign. Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug, is highly contagious and the trust is reminding people not to visit hospitals, GP surgeries or care homes until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.
