A Christmas remembrance service for babies who have passed away around the time of their birth is to be held this Sunday (4 December).

The service, led by hospital chaplain Sarah Ramsden, will take place at Grove Hill Methodist Church in Middlesbrough at 3pm.

Caroline Buckley, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at The James Cook University Hospital has been organising the event.

She said: “The service will include the reading of names for those parents who wish to have their child’s name read out, a chamber choir and lighting of the Christmas tree.

“We held the first of these last Christmas and plan to do so on the first Sunday of December each year.

“Anybody who has been affected by the loss of a baby is welcome to attend. Some of the neonatal unit staff will also be there and refreshments including tea and coffee will be provided afterwards.”

For more information or to have your child’s name read during the service, contact the neonatal unit on 01642 854871, or alternatively you will have the opportunity to let the organisers know on arrival at the church.
