As part of the World Breastfeeding Week, which runs from Thursday 1 August, thousands of breastfeeding women and their babies/children across the world will gather in their own communities to take part in the Big Latch On, a synchronized breastfeeding event to be held in multiple locations.

One such venue is the Kirkleatham Museum on the outskirts of Redcar, and Vicky Head, infant feeding co-ordinator for South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, is encouraging as many new mums to drop in for 10.30 that morning.

Vicky said “The breastfeeding rates in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland are among some of the lowest in England.  Therefore we are supporting the ‘The Big Latch On’ to celebrate all mums who have chosen to give their babies the Best Start in Life worldwide.  It would be fabulous for many mums and families as possible come along and join us at Kirkleatham Museum on Saturday to join in this world wide event.”
