Increasing coin confidence for dementia patients

Posted on in Hospitals

A simple method of helping people with dementia handle money with confidence has been introduced by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Posters with images of coins and their respective values have been positioned around The James Cook University Hospital and The Friarage to act as memory aids.

Lead Nurse for Dementia Beth Swanson said: “We know dealing with money can be a problem for people with dementia so we created this simple poster as a reminder of the value of each coin. They’re displayed near till points in our hospitals and will act as a handy reference for people with memory problems when handling cash.”
