Patients are reminded that Redcar Minor Injury Unit opening times will change from this Saturday (1 April 2017).
The MIU at Redcar Primary Care Hospital will open from 8am to 9.30pm, seven days a week – including access to x-ray.
This is one of a number of changes to urgent care being introduced by NHS South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group from 1 April.
To make it easier for patients living across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland to access GP appointments, four extended hours GP centres will be open from 6pm to 9.30pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 8am to 9.30pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
The extended hours GP centres will be based at: North Ormesby Health Village, One Life Centre in Linthorpe, Redcar Primary Care Hospital and East Cleveland Hospital in Brotton. The centres will operate an appointment based system – people won’t be able to just walk-in. Patients can request appointments via their own GP surgery or by calling NHS 111.
Existing walk-in centres at North Ormesby (part of Resolution Health Centre) and Eston Grange will close on Friday (31 March 2017). The GP practice at Resolution in North Ormesby will remain open for registered patients. If you are not registered to a GP in the area, you can find your nearest GP surgery by visiting the NHS Choices website at www.nhs.uk
Redcar MIU can assess and treat a range of minor injuries for adults and children (over 12 months of age) including: minor burns and scalds, infected wounds, sprains, cuts, grazes, possible broken bones, insect stings, animal bites, minor eye injuries, splinter removal, minor head injuries, minor back, neck and shoulder injuries.
