Business as usual for Friarage but weather still affecting community nursing

Posted on in Hospitals

It’s business as usual at the Friarage Hospital today following yesterday’s heavy rainfall and floods.

Yesterday the hospital car park was flooded and there were drainage issues in three theatres. As a result the trust made the decision at 11.30am yesterday to cancel all elective (planned) surgery (10 operations in total – mostly orthopaedic).  The occupational therapy department also had to close. Access to the front of the hospital was passable with care.

Theatres and occupational therapy are open as usual today.

The extreme weather is still impacting on our community nursing teams, particularly in East Cleveland and North Yorkshire. Staff are covering areas close to where they live and assessing patients as required but everyone who needs to be seen, will get a visit although there may be some delays. Please note that because of this you may receive a visit from a different nurse to usual. All our nurses carry identification.

Police are warning there is standing water on many roads, so please take care if you are driving.
