Grateful to the caring hospital staff who looked after her so well during treatment for breast cancer, Judy Warriner, 66, from Stockton, wanted to do something to thank them now treatment has finished and she is on the road to recovery.
Judy is a member of Stockton Trefoil Group and Stockton Motor Group and both groups kindly rallied round to help her give something back with their fundraising efforts.
Generous donations and a coffee morning raised £890 which will go to radiotherapy and oncology’s star fund which benefits patients and their families and future developments to help cancer patients.
Future breast patients will receive new breast gowns for use during treatment at The James Cook University Hospital. The special gowns will be made by the hospital laundry team – part of Carillion – the trust’s private sector partners.
So delighted were the team by the lovely donation, they have invited the ladies from Trefoil Group back to the hospital to choose the colour of the gowns.
The Trefoil Group has 28 members and it’s their 60 anniversary next year. Part of girl guiding the group is mainly made up of ladies who have been involved in girl guiding, but have retired.
The Motor Club is the premier club in the area and was founded in 1930. They help at rallies, providing marshalls and other motoring activities.
Judy said:” I wanted to thank the dedicated hospital staff for the amazing care and support I received during my treatment for breast cancer and on-going care.
“I am also grateful to both clubs and everyone who helped me for making the donation possible.”
