Macmillan volunteers from the cancer information centres at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and Friarage Hospital in Northallerton are already making plans for Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2012.

Money raised at the popular event in September helps Macmillan Cancer Support provide medical, practical and emotional support to people affected by cancer including patients and carers.

The volunteers are hoping to come somewhere near the astonishing £835 they raised last year by asking people to come along to the hospital coffee mornings and help a worthy cause at the same time.

• James Cook’s coffee morning will be held in the atrium on Friday 28 September from 10am to 2pm and as well as refreshments there will be a raffle, tombola and a book stall.

• At the Friarage coffee will be served in the hub on Thursday 27 September from 10am until 1pm and there will be tombola and various stalls.
