Students at Teesside University have organised a speed dating event to raise funds for the Retinal Development Appeal at The James Cook University Hospital.

The student-only event takes place at O’Connell’s Irish Bar in Bedford Street, Middlesbrough, on Tuesday 5 May at 7pm and entry is £2.50 on the door.

The Retinal Development Appeal aims to raise £175,000 to buy additional state-of-the-art equipment to enhance patient care including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanner which produces detailed cross-sectional and 3D images of the eye to help clinicians quickly diagnose sight threatening conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.
