A special survivorship event is being held in Northallerton to help support people affected by, living with and beyond cancer.
Most of us know someone whose life has been affected by cancer. Patients, carers, family members and friends are invited to drop in to the market place event organised by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
To be held on Wednesday 16 July 2014 at the Town Hall, Northallerton High Street from 10am to 2pm the event will bring cancer patients together to meet, share, learn and get more out of life.
Key healthcare professionals will talk about lifestyle issues, exercise, getting back to work, finances etc. People are encouraged to come along, ask questions and see what resources are available. Complementary therapy taster sessions will also be available. It is an excellent opportunity for patients and carers to help shape the future delivery of cancer services.
Healthcare professionals who wish to find out more about resources to help patients move forward with their lives are welcome to drop in.
Anyone interested should come along on the day – there is no need to book a place. For further information please telephone the Macmillan Information & Support Centre on 01609 764033
Nicky Hand, cancer lead nurse said: “We hope people will drop in and see us so we can help provide the support and advice people need to be able to live beyond the initial impact of cancer, and continue to be as independent and active as possible.
“The good news is more people are surviving a diagnosis of cancer than ever before. Our aim is to help people do more than survive.”
