For some smokers in their 30s and 40s, the thought of cancer or COPD is often dismissed as a risk that feels years away… But now two former smokers and cancer survivors are making personal appeals in a graphic quit smoking campaign that urges smokers to quit and reduce their risk – and never assume it won’t happen to them.

The James Cook University Hospital is hosting a Radiotherapy Careers Clearing Open Day on Saturday 18 August. The event takes place in the Radiotherapy Department, near North Entrance, from 10am to 12noon. The annual Jazz Train returns this summer 16 June, aiming to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre in Northallerton.
Volunteers are needed for the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. The information service will move into The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, currently under construction and due for completion this autumn, and up to 20 new volunteers are required to support the existing service and new development.
