Dare devil June Parsons is aiming high and facing her fears to help the NHS where she has been both a member of staff and a patient. Former nurse, June, retired from Middlesbrough’s The James Cook University Hospital after 35 years working in the NHS.

The Friarage Hospital’s stoma care department is holding an open day for ostomy patients at The Golden Lion Hotel, Northallerton. To be held on Tuesday 24 May 2016 from 11am to 2pm in the Yorkshire Suite, Golden Lion Hotel, High Street, Northallerton, the open day is a great opportunity for patients to meet with representatives from stoma manufacturers and view the most up to date products including support garments and underwear suitable for ostomy patients.
Adventurous students from Teesside University are taking on a mammoth challenge for The Golden Jubilee spinal cord injuries centre at The James Cook University Hospital. The intrepid students, aged between 20 and 35, are tackling the National Three Peaks Challenge – climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland – Ben Nevis (4,409 feet) Scafell Pike (3,209 feet) and Snowdon (3,560 feet) – in 24 hours on 24 to 25 May 2016.
Consultants and surgeons from South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust came out to support Tour de Yorkshire cyclists as they whizzed past The James Cook University Hospital on Marton Road. The Vascular and Endovascular surgery department joined forces with the trust’s Specialist Weight Management Service, The Circulation Foundation and colleagues from South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to serve up tasty and heart healthy Mediterranean treats to the crowds who came out to cheer on the cyclists.
The Queen celebrates her 90th birthday on 21 April 2016. To celebrate, the therapeutic care team will be holding a street party in the atrium on Friday 22 April 2016 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be – refreshments, photo booth, balloon modelling, knitting, story corner, crafts, choir, musicians and entertainers.

Tears were shed as the Redcar couple made their vows in front of family, friends and the dedicated nurses and hospital staff who have cared for Annalise and supported her family.
