A Teesside pub is organising a family fun weekend over the bank holiday to raise funds for the children’s ward at The James Cook University Hospital. The Coulby Farm Pub has pulled out all the stops to ensure there is something for everyone and attractions include a Robbie Williams tribute night on Friday 23 August, a beach party on Saturday 24 August and a fun day on Sunday 25 August.

Actor Paul Brennen will tackle the Great North Run in September to raise funds for the intensive care at The James Cook University Hospital. Paul is running for his close friend Phil Holbrook, whose wife tragically died in a car accident last December – an accident which also left Phil with life-threatening injuries and in a coma for a week.
Almost 30 cyclists have completed a gruelling 152-mile coast-to-coast bike ride raising around £5,000 for the Cleveland unit in the process.
Led by Stephen Whincup, the team completed the Whitehaven to Tynemouth journey in three days, to help the unit which cared for Stephen’s son Dylan for almost two years.
An ambitious appeal is being launched this week to raise £2million for an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scanner at the Friarage Hospital. South Tees Hospitals Charity is embarking on its first major fundraising campaign – in partnership with the Friends of the Friarage – to reach its target by December 2015. And the Friends have certainly got the ball rolling by pledging £250,000 at Thursday’s launch with further fundraising to follow.
Local people have the chance to have their say on how all cancer patients could benefit from exciting plans to improve the holistic service at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. For ten years patients under the care of a specialist cancer consultant (oncologist) have been benefiting from therapies, ranging from aromatherapy to acupuncture, provided to support people through their conventional cancer treatment. Now as the service based in the holistic cancer care centre on the hospital site prepares to celebrate its tenth anniversary, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to an open afternoon at the centre to seek their views on plans to re-vamp the service.
Military personnel at the Friarage will be splashing out at a charity car wash and raffle at the Northallerton hospital on Thursday 13 June from 8am to 6pm. The fun event is being held to support and improve the high standards the Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit (MDHU) unit at the hospital strives to for its military personnel. Staff, patients and the public who feel their car is in need of a bit of a wash can pop down to the hospital’s main car park to show their support and have their car washed for only £3, and take part in the raffle.
Intrepid Mike Hamm is gearing up to cycle the Yorkshire stage of the Tour de France on a pre-Tour de France ride to help future cancer patients. Accompanied by members of Team GB and Team Raleigh professional cycling team, Mike, 44, from Catterick Village will take on the marathon cycle ride on Wednesday 8 May 2013. Mike was inspired to tackle the challenging ride to raise money for the Mowbray suite complementary therapy service at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
