It’s very important that patients with planned operations, procedures or outpatient appointments should attend as normal unless they are specifically contacted by their hospital and asked not to. Only those patients contacted directly will have appointments delayed and these will be rearranged. Cancer diagnosis and treatment appointments will not be delayed.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with Heart Valve Voice, the UK’s charity for heart valve disease, and The Royal Photographic Society has announced the launch of ‘Patient Portraits: A New You’, a photography competition encouraging keen photographers to capture heartfelt moments in time and convey what life after heart valve disease means to patients.
Researchers from The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough are appealing for families of children born prematurely, or with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy, to take part in a national study. James Cook is participating in the University of Oxford’s ARCHIE study, which is looking at whether early antibiotic treatment may prevent these ‘at risk’ children from becoming more unwell when they get flu. The research is funded by the National Institute of Health Research.
