Public meeting on future of Lambert Hospital ward

The future of the 14-bed ward at Lambert Memorial Hospital will be the subject of a public meeting held at Thirsk School and Sixth Form College from 6pm on Tuesday 22 March 2016. South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting members of the public to attend this meeting to hear about the efforts the trust has made to try to recruit staff for the ward and ask questions.

Patients urged not to miss appointments

Health chiefs are urging patients not to miss hospital appointments after 67,500 were wasted last year at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust, which runs The James Cook University Hospital, Friarage Hospital and services at a number of community hospitals, had a “did not attend” (DNA) rate of 8% in the last financial year.

Temporary closure of ward at Lambert Memorial Hospital

A 14-bed ward at Lambert Memorial Hospital will temporarily close this month (September 2015) to address patient safety concerns due to staffing pressures. The service is currently under enormous strain due to a number of issues including difficulty in filling vacant nursing posts, long-term sickness/absence leave and getting sufficient temporary nursing cover through NHS Professionals.
