Memories of wife Lorraine as Jeff sets off on epic bike ride

Precious memories of a much-loved wife and mum will be at the forefront of Jeff Bennison’s mind, as he sets off on an epic motorcycle adventure from The James Cook University Hospital on Saturday August 19. Jeff, from Leyburn, is completing an extraordinary Land’s End to John ‘o’ Groats motorcycle ride with a difference, in a bid to raise funds for the High Dependency Unit (HDU) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at The James Cook University Hospital, both of whom cared for wife Lorraine in her final days.

New navigational model launched in A&E

A new ‘navigational’ model which will direct patients away from Accident and Emergency in a bid to focus resources on those in need of urgent care will be launched at The James Cook University Hospital. From Saturday (1 April 2017), Patients will be assessed on arrival at the department by a senior nurse and if they do not require emergency care, they will be redirected to the most appropriate primary care services in the community.

Teesside’s biggest hospital is reminding patients that A&E doesn’t mean Absolutely Everything this Bank Holiday weekend – and minor illnesses or injuries can be treated more quickly elsewhere. The James Cook University Hospital could be even busier than usual this May Bank Holiday, as the Tour De Yorkshire event comes to Middlesbrough.
