BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern is appealing to generous local companies, organisations and individuals to support a fundraising dinner she is compering in Middlesbrough, this November.
The Look A Head Cancer Campaign charity is holding the event to raise funds to continue the important work they do in improving awareness of head and neck cancer.
The Look A Head Cancer Campaign covers Teesside, Durham and North Yorkshire and aims to raise awareness of head and neck cancers, how they may be prevented and early symptoms which require prompt medical attention.
The event is being held at the Thistle Hotel, Fry Street, Middlesbrough on Thursday, November 27 from 7pm. Tables of 10 are only £250 to include a three-course meal with coffee and entertainment from a Blues Band, magic show and disco. A raffle and auction will also take place.
Richard Wight, Look A Head chairman and head and neck consultant at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, said: “We are delighted that Steph is joining us for our fundraising evening and we very much appreciate her help with our campaign.
“Early treatment can save lives and we are committed to educating the public and health professionals about head and neck cancer and to encourage people with suspicious symptoms to get checked out as soon as possible.”
BBC Breakfast presenter Steph said: “I’m delighted to be involved in such a worthy cause in my home town.
“This is an ideal opportunity for an early Christmas get together for businesses, work colleagues, friends or families. The event is such great value, will be great fun and will help with vital fundraising at the same time.”
