We provide services at both The James Cook University Hospital (surgical floor) and at the Friarage Hospital.
Gynaecology services treat patients with a range of conditions, offering general gynaecological services and specialist services including subfertility, menopause, urogynaecology, continence and gynaecological cancer.
Minor procedures and rapid access clinics provide outpatient investigations and treatment for an increasing number of women.

A groundbreaking service for couples looking for a permanent method of birth control, as their families are complete – and for women where childbirth presents a risk – has been performed within the trust for the past two years by obstetrics and gynaecology consultant Dr Suzie Peatman and nurse hysteroscopist Chris Coates. It is now provided every Thursday morning at the Friarage Hospital.
Performed during an outpatient visit, the ESSURE permanent birth control system, marketed by Bayer, is a minimally invasive technique designed to provide a non-surgical alternative for women seeking sterilisation. It involves no anaesthesia, no cutting, just a simple 10-minute process (average time), followed by a short recovery period.
