Updated – access for parents during COVID-19

We are happy to announce that we can now safely extend our NICU visiting access to:

  • Daytime – 8am to 4pm (one parent)
  • Evening – 4pm to 10pm (both parents by appointment only)

Please see your baby’s nurse for more details.

In the interests of preventing infection, as well as privacy, we restrict our visiting in both areas. Parents, as well as brothers and sisters of the baby, and grandparents are welcome on the unit at any time.

We encourage parents to spend as much time as possible with their babies and to attend the ward round when their baby is being discussed by the medical and nursing team. Parents are actively encouraged to become involved in their baby’s care and in making decisions which affect care.

These rounds are generally twice a day and are generally at around 9.30am and 9.30pm.

We do, however, restrict the number of visitors around the cot to two at a time with one of these being a parent.

Other visitors are restricted to between 4pm and 6pm daily and unfortunately no other children under 16 can visit the unit.
