Occupational Therapy - Skills for Living

What do we do?

A community-based NHS occupational therapy service aiming to enable patients with physical and cognitive difficulties to participate in the activities of daily living that are important to them. The long term conditions that we generally work with are Parkinson’s, Arthritis and early stage Dementia. We run regular education groups for the management of inflammatory arthritis.

Who do we work with?

We predominantly but not exclusively work with older people but see all adults over the age of 18 years apart from those with long term neurological conditions who are under the age of 65 years old.

What happens during the appointment?

We generally see people in their own homes where the occupational therapist would carry out the initial assessment, following assessment a treatment plan would be devised with the client and treatment undertaken by the OT, or OTA combined, at home or within the community.
