Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an excellent team of 10 specially trained hip and knee replacement surgeons operating at both The James Cook University Hospital (Middlesbrough) and the Friarage Hospital (Northallerton).
The trust is involved in the teaching and training of orthopaedic trainee surgeons, with our surgeons offering exposure to a variety of advanced hip and knee replacement techniques.
While we recognize the importance of training we maintain high standards by ensuring all procedures are performed under the direct supervision of one of our specialist joint replacement consultants.
All of our hip and knee replacements are carried out by this team and not by non-specialist surgeons or non-career grade doctors.
This allows us to concentrate expertise to the surgeons that can deliver the best outcomes for our patients. The consultants performing hip and knee replacements at the trust are:
- Mr Paul Baker
- Mr Tim Bonner
- Mr Richard Hopcroft
- Mr Tony Hui
- Mr Simon Jameson
- Mr Ian McMurtry
- Mr Andrew Port
- Mr Ian Wallace
- Mr James Webb
- Mr Craig White
We currently accept hip and knee referrals at many of our community clinics. Clinics are available at Guisborough, Brotton, Redcar and Richmond as well as at the Friarage Hospital and The James Cook University Hospital sites.
