How to refer?

Patients within the Hambleton and Richmondshire area can be referred by their GP or other health care professional.

Many patients who are under the care of a consultant are also often referred onward to the physiotherapy department for continuation of their rehabilitation. We also accept written referrals from A&E.

You may also be referred to physiotherapy following an appointment within our MSK service.

You will be contacted either by phone or letter informing you of your appointment once we have received your referral.

We will try and organise your physiotherapy at your nearest physiotherapy outpatient department. However sometimes we may need you to attend one of our larger rehabilitation bases usually The Friarge Hospital, Northallerton or The Friary  Hospital, Richmond.

Within the Hambleton and Richmondshire area you are also able to self refer via PhysioDirect. This is based within the physiotherapy department at the Friarage hospital.

Patients can contact PhysioDirect without the need for a referral from their GP or other health professional. Patients can ring the PhysioDirect telephone number and are able to register their referral with our administration team. They will then be offered either a telephone consultation (PhysioCall) or a face to face appointment (PhysioContact) with a physiotherapist.
