A number of the therapists also offer advanced techniques such as acupuncture and functional electrical stimulation (FES).
Two of the Physiotherapists are also qualified Botulinum toxin injectors and hold a weekly spasticity clinic alongside the rehabilitation consultant to offer specialised spasticity management.
The team offer a variety of services from individualised sessions, group sessions, self-management programmes and hydrotherapy.
The team cover the neurology ward (27), the neurosurgery ward (24) and the regional neurological rehabilitation unit (ward 26). We also see all outpatients and patients in the community with neurological conditions in the area.
We generally look after people in the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland area, but will also see people from out of this area if they or their doctor requests it.
Any person with a long term neurological condition such as MS or PD, and who is under a neurologist, neurosurgeon or rehabilitation consultant at The James Cook University Hospital can self-refer themselves into neuro physio whenever they would like a re-assessment.
