The spinal cord injury rehabilitation ward is a unit that has the capacity to care for 20 in- patients 24 hours a day 7 days per week, from injury until discharge.
The team works inter – collaboratively with a variety of multidisciplinary professionals including : Dr’s , Nurses, health care assistants, physio’s, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, pharmacists, dieticians, ward clerks and many more to meet the physical, psychological, spiritual and social needs of each patient.
A holistic approach is taken to individually plan, implement and evaluate the care of each patient to maximise their potential for level of function and independence.
The Dr’s, nurses and health care assistants make up the core of the ward team and work in partnership to ensure that high quality, safe and compassionate care is delivered at all times.
The nurses and HCA’S deliver specialist care to assist each patient to adapt to their altered lifestyles following injury. The team act as advocate’s and educate both patients and family
In all activities of daily living including specialist, bladder, bowel, skin, pain and respiratory management.
