Charity overview: The aim of the Friends of the Friarage is to support the work of the Friarage Hospital and the health centres of Hambleton and Richmondshire in providing the best possible healthcare to every patient, above the standards that NHS funding alone allows.
Role: Hospital shop trolley service volunteer
Responsible to: Hospital shop manager
Summary of role:

To take the trolley round the wards selling newspapers, confectionery, drinks, etc.

The profits generated by the trolley sales are used to support the work of the charity.

The trolley service plays a significant role in the promotion of the image and work of the charity.

Description of tasks:

To deal sensitively and politely with patients on the wards.

Ensuring that the trolley is fully stocked prior to going around the wards and is cleaned on a regular basis.

Recording sales and cash handling.

Time commitment: Weekday mornings, usually 1- 2 hours
Skills and qualifications:

Friendly and helpful with good communication skills.

Enthusiastic and open to giving and receiving feedback from shop management.

Training and support:

Induction training on commencement of the role.

Ongoing training and support will be given as required.

Willingness to undertake mandatory training in accordance with the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust requirements.
