Reiki is a Japanese form of hands on therapy, which can help to aid relaxation and help reduce pain, tension, stress, anxiety, insomnia, hot flushes, sickness and lethargy.
The Japanese word Reiki means universal energy. Eastern medicine systems work with this energy, which is thought to flow through all living things. It is best described as a hands on healing used as a complementary therapy. Many people find it to be a deeply relaxing experience.
What happens in a Reiki session?
You will be asked what you’d like the reiki session to help you with and together with the therapist you will agree what to focus on.
You will lie on a treatment couch or sit in a reclining chair while the therapist uses gentle stroking or light finger pressure either on or just above certain points on your body.
More information on reiki is available in the leaflet below, which can be translated or provided in audio form within 48 hours.
