With a reputation for excellence which attracts consultants who are leaders in their fields including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, pain management, plastic surgery, spinal surgery and urology, ear nose and throat, our patients’ needs are at the heart of the Friarage surgical hub.
The Friarage stands in the heart of Northallerton – a thriving and bustling North Yorkshire market town. Located just four miles from the A19 and six miles from the A1(M) the hospital is readily accessible by road.
Our friendly hospital offers virtual consultations and is at the forefront of research and innovation, with strong links to The James Cook University Hospital – one of the country’s flagship NHS centres for highly specialised care.
As part of our clinically-led commitment to invest in the needs of our surgical patients for years to come, a new multi-million-pound surgical centre is planned to open at the Friarage in 2025.
Ground-breaking ceremony
A ground-breaking ceremony has officially marked the start of building work on the Friarage’s new surgical hub, which will enable the Northallerton hospital to more than double the number of planned operations it carries out each year.
When complete in 2025, the new facility will replace the hospital’s five existing operating theatres with a modern surgical hub that will include six main operating theatres, two minor operating theatres, and a surgical admission and day hub.
