South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust are making a final appeal for local people to stand for election to their respective Councils of Governors.
The two trusts operate as a group model but are statutory entities in their own right.
Each must elect governors to:
reflect the interests of members and the general public
help select and appoint the chairman and non-executive directors
advise the board of directors on the development of services
attend Council of Governors meetings
assist the development of the trust’s membership strategy
Nominations to stand for election close on Tuesday 23 April at 5pm.
Professor Derek Bell OBE, group chair for South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We need you!
Being a governor makes a huge impact on how healthcare is delivered in our region. It’s a very important role, a role that makes a real difference to the quality of life for thousands of local people.
“I would encourage anyone interested in standing for election for either trust to get in touch. There is still time to stand for election and represent your community.”
