The medical care on our NNU is shared and supervised by consultant neonatologists and we also have a team of doctors called specialist trainees (STs), who provide daily medical care and a team of highly trained neonatal nurses called advanced neonatal nurse practitioners (ANNPs).

We have a large team of specially trained neonatal nursing staff caring for babies and their parents throughout the day and night, many of whom have had specialised training in nursing sick and premature babies.  Each baby is the responsibility of one nurse, although the nurse may have more than one baby to care for.

The staff are all happy to update parents on their baby’s care and condition as well as answer any specific questions.

The medical care on our SCBU at the Friarage is shared and supervised by the following consultant paediatricians:

  • Dr Ruth Roberts
  • Dr Dieter Dammann
  • Dr Jon James
  • Dr Elizabeth Onifade
  • Dr Nil Sabrine
  • Dr Suzi Wolny

We also have junior medical staff who provide immediate medical cover on the SCBU and a small nursing team of specifically trained neonatal staff. Again each baby is the responsibility of one nurse, although the nurse may have more than one baby to care for.

Staff are always happy to update parents on their baby’s care and condition as well as answer any specific questions.
