What do I need to know?
You have been advised to take the selected items(s) below when you get home from hospital.
Tick as appropriate:
- Paracetamol 500mg tablets
- Ibuprofen 400mg tablets
- Ibuprofen 200mg tablets
- Senna 7.5mg tablets
- Ibuprofen gel
- Lactulose solution
- Moisturising cream
- Heartburn/Indigestion relief suspension
- Docusate 100mg capsules
- Macrogol sachets for constipation
- Hypromellose eye drops
These medications can be bought from your local pharmacy (chemist) and some can be bought from your local supermarket.
It is important for you to buy these medications so that you have a supply at home. You do not need a prescription from the doctor to buy these medications.
Why do I need the medication?
The medications you have been advised to buy have been recommended by your doctor, they are just as important as your medications that you get on prescription.
It is essential you take them as directed. Not using the medications as your doctor has recommended may result in future problems.
How do I take the medication?
Your doctor or other healthcare professional will usually give you advice on how to use the medications you have been advised to buy. If this does not occur, contact your community pharmacist for advice.
If you have any worries or concerns, you should contact your GP during normal surgery hours. Outside surgery hours, you should contact your GP’s surgery for the out of hours service number.
