University Hospitals Tees (UHT) is inviting patients, families and visitors to honour the heroes behind their local NHS services by nominating them for the newly launched Caring Better Together awards.
The hospital group which includes the James Cook University Hospital, University Hospital of North Tees, Friarage Hospital and University Hospital of Hartlepool as well as community teams across Redcar, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and North Yorkshire has launched its first staff awards to recognise the dedication, compassion and commitment of its workforce across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.
Patients, members of the public and staff are encouraged to their share stories and say thank you by submitting their nominations before Sunday 6 September 2026.

- Behind the scenes award (non-clinical support)
- Lifetime achievement award
- Rising star award
- The heart and soul of UHT award
- Team of the year award
- Innovation and research award

- The stronger together/connected care award
- Chief executive’s collaboration award
Following the nomination process, the winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony held at the digital life building at Teesside University on Monday 5 October 2026.
The event will be held alongside University Hospitals Tees’ annual general meeting, providing an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, successes and contributions of staff over the past year.
