Special interests
I am a military academic anaesthetist with interests in thoracic trauma and high altitude environments.
My research interests centre around adaptation to high altitudes and strategies that may enable us to deploy troops at short notice to altitude.
I work closely with military colleagues and sports scientists at Leeds Beckett University on these projects.
Training
I completed undergraduate training at Leeds University Medical school and anaesthesia training in Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton, Sheffield, London and Sydney.
I successful passed the Fellowship exam for the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 1996 and the Diploma of Immediate Medical Care (RCS Edinburgh) in 2009. I have recently submitted my research thesis to Newcastle University for examination for a Doctorate of Medicine (MD).
