We confirmed in January 2023 that a hospital group would be created across North Tees and Hartlepool and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts.
Our ambition remains steadfast and focused on delivering more together for the populations we serve.
Underpinning this is a set of principles agreed by the Joint Partnership Board, they are:
- The very best care for everyone
- Equity of access to services and outcomes
- Respect, compassion and dignity in everything we do
- Learning from all, everyone counts
- Improving lives by working together across the communities we serve
We have already started to see the benefits of broader collaboration across both organisations, with joint clinical appointments for our emergency departments, integration via our stroke services and orthopaedics, as well as the ongoing joint development of a new community diagnostic centre which will provide patients with quicker access to tests, checks and scans.
It is clear that there are many other benefits to be realised, and to do this we need to move forward with a sustainable and more joined up leadership model.
An open and transparent recruitment process will commence imminently. Anyone meeting the role criteria and who has the experience required is encouraged to apply.
North Tees and Hartlepool and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust joint chair, Professor Derek Bell OBE said: “It is our collective ambition to improve the lives of the communities we serve, and we know that we will be more effective delivering this together with one chief executive.
“This is an exciting time to join our group with the successful candidate able to shape the future collaborative arrangements working with the senior leadership teams and stakeholders across the area we serve.”
To confirm, under the hospital group model, each trust will remain as a statutory organisation and they are not merging.
