Club members’ cardio boost

Members of a Teesside club have rallied round and raised £14,000 to help heart patients at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The generous members of Beechwood and Easterside Club, which is only a short distance from the hospital, dug deep and through 2015 managed to raise the fantastic sum. Through the South Cleveland Heart Fund, they we able to buy two ‘Sara Plus’ standing aids for the cardiology patients at the hospital.

Heart scanner appeal reaches £1m target

The South Cleveland Heart Fund has reached its £1m target for the upgrade of a MRI scanner, thanks to generous donations from the public. The £1m milestone was reached within 18 months, after a number of kind-hearted people rallied together to raise vital funds for the cause – with events ranging from race nights to a Bollywood extravaganza!

Our trolley-load of love for neonatal parents

A team of caring teenage students have made a very generous and heart-warming donation to the parents of neonatal babies at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The 15 students from East Durham College in Peterlee, all aged between 16 and 18, took part in the National Citizen Service several months ago and as part of the programme they are asked to devise a Social Action Plan which they feel will make a difference to people in their community.

Panto stars Ashleigh and Pudsey the dog have swapped Cinderella’s coach for a different type of transport – a brand new car! The Britain’s Got Talent favourites will be handing over the keys of a Peugeot 208 to Paul Forbes – the lucky winner of the Friarage MRI Scanner Appeal raffle.
