The first images of the Friarage Hospital’s planned surgical hub have been released today by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Last month the Department of Health and Social Care gave the greenlight for £35.5million of NHS investment to be earmarked for the creation of the new modern operating theatres at the Northallerton hospital.
The new surgical hub is planned to be built on the site of the existing Mowbray building which is more than 60 years old and is due to be demolished.
The detailed plans for the new theatres have been led by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s experienced clinicians and a full business case is now being prepared for the next phase of regional and national NHS approvals before they are given the final go-ahead.
In the meantime, the scheme has already been granted outline planning permission by Hambleton District Council and this week a full planning application for new hub is due to be submitted.
The Friarage is thriving and new surgical hub is just the latest in a series of clinically-led developments at the hospital which will serve our patients for decades to come.”James Dunbar, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s clinical collaborative chair for the Friarage and community services
