The England Women’s Football team are through to their second consecutive Euro final after Tuesday night’s late night thriller.
The Lionesses cemented their place as one of the best teams in the world in the closing moments of an action-packed match against Italy thanks to a cool-headed Chloe Kelly slotting in the winning goal after goalkeeper Laura Giuliani deflected the forward’s penalty kick.
As the nation gears up for Sunday’s final when the Lionesses, the current holders of the cup, will take on Spain, University Hospitals Tees is appealing for people to enjoy the match in safety.
Laura Pennicott, emergency department matron at the University Hospital of North Tees, said: “We want everyone to have fun and enjoy the match but please don’t overdo it!
“No one wants to miss seeing their team lift a trophy because they’re having their ankle x-rayed or are too drunk to remember it.
“We’ll be joining the rest of the country to cheer on the Lionesses during the final. We hope everyone enjoys a brilliant and safe match.
“Bring it home again!”
