Occupational Therapy
Material: Plastazote.
Purpose: To provide rest and protection of joints and to reduce the risk of deformities. To relieve pain.
Wearing instructions
To be worn mainly overnight but also at other times when resting, e.g. in the evening particularly during a flare. Wear one per night and alternate between left and right if you have been given a pair.
Care of your splint
Wipe clean with lukewarm water or clean with anti-bacterial wipes. Remove and wash straps in warm soapy water. Do not immerse in hot water or leave the splint in a warm place as it may lose its shape.
Precautions
Please check for:
- Redness, soreness or breakdown of skin.
- Increase in pain or discomfort or worsening of symptoms when wearing the splint.
- Allergic reaction such as raised, itchy, red rash.
- Repair or alteration is necessary, for example; if the splint snaps or uses its shape or if it no longer fits comfortably.
In the event of any of the above. Discontinue wearing your splint(s) and contact your therapist on the details below.
