About
The Arthroplasty four Lower Limb (A4LL) is a patient and public involvement group formed by Professor Paul Baker in 2021, based at The James Cook University Hospital.
The group consists of people with personal experience of hip or knee joint problems that advise and contribute to the development of current and future hip and knee related research.
It is important the research accurately reflects the needs and views of people with hip and knee joint problems so we can improve treatments and patient experiences.
Taking part
The group works with other patients and researchers to help develop studies around the hip and knee.
This work would involve:
- Advising on patient priorities for research
- Helping to develop study resources for patients
- Contributing to plans to improve recruitment of patients
- Helping to identify ways to support patients to continue with the study
- Reviewing and commenting on study documents
- Helping to identify how to share the study findings with patients, public and health professionals
This work would not involve:
- You will not need to recruit to the study or raise awareness of research
- You do not need to talk about your own treatment (unless you wish to do so)
- You will not be required to participate in the research study itself
Meetings (in person, teleconference or video link) will be arranged when required, those that occur in person will have travel expenses reimbursed.
You would not be expected to attend all meetings, just as and when you are available.
