Temporary road closures on Marton Road
There will be temporary road works taking place on Marton Road from Tuesday 17 February to Friday 20 February and again on Monday 23 February between 7pm and 12 midnight.
During this period, Marton Road will be closed from the bus stop at the southern entrance of The James Cook University Hospital to Ladgate Lane junction.
If you are travelling from Ladgate lane, there will be no access down Marton Road to The James Cook University Hospital. There will be signage in place during the works to help you plan your journey to the hospital.
The James Cook main entrance can still be accessed if you’re travelling from the Belle Vue roundabout.
When exiting James Cook Hospital through the main entrance, you will only be able to turn right while the essential works are being carried out.
Pedestrian pathways on Marton Road will remain accessible during the roadworks.
Visitor car parking spaces will still be open as usual.
Please allow extra time for your journey.

Allowing enough time for your appointment
As car parking at some of our hospital sites can be difficult, please ensure you allow enough time to park your car and walk the distance to the department you are attending. You may prefer to be dropped off at the main entrances of the hospital so that you don’t have as far to walk.
If you need your future appointments to be booked at a later time to allow you enough time to travel to the hospital then discuss this with the outpatient reception staff at the time you are booking your appointment or contact the department detailed in your appointment letter. Every effort will be made to help you although we may not be able to do this for every request.
James Cook parking advice
If your appointment is at The James Cook University Hospital, car parking spaces in the north visitors’ car park V3 are very limited. Most car parking spaces can be found in car parks V1 and V2. These are located near to the maternity unit. You will need to turn right as you enter the main road entrance into the hospital and follow the signposting. Check the latest car parking fees.
Friarage parking advice
If your appointment is at the Friarage Hospital then the main visitor car park can be found by driving past the main entrance and follow the signposting. Some alternative parking can be found by following the signage for the accident and emergency department and the car park is directly in front of you. Check the latest car parking fees.
