Meet the Team

The team in plastic surgery comprises highly trained nurses, healthcare practitioners, specialist nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, operating department practitioners and plastic surgeons. Our department has a team of seven full-time, permanent consultant surgeons and two locum consultants selected to provide a broad range of skills and experience across the range of plastic surgery.

Our supporting team

Our consultants are well supported by two specialty surgeons in plastic surgery;  Mr Srinivasen Murugan, and Mr Earl Gardner. Each of these have specific interests within our department and independently see and operate on patients while supporting both the consultant team and our doctors in training.

We are also have five plastic surgery specialist registrars in training who rotate through different training posts within the north east and six further junior doctors undertaking their initial general surgical or foundation training.

We have our own team of highly trained nurses and healthcare assistants who work in our local anaesthetic day case theatre situated on ward 35. They are led by Nick Simons who is the clinic and theatre manager as well as our burns nurse lead. Our dressings clinic team

We also have our own team of highly trained nurses and healthcare assistants who work in our plastic surgery dressings clinic also situated on ward 35. This provides a location for patients to be reviewed post operatively in the healing phase. Some of these staff members also cross cover the minor op lists. (Rebecca Greenfield, Carol Roberts, Pamela McCulloch, Jacky Kirkbride and Lynn Powell). Kendra Forest is our Clinic receptionist.

Ward 35 is the base ward for plastic surgery and is run by our ward manager Debbie Middleton. We also have two clinical sisters, Vanessa Campbell Lee and Tracy Simpson.   The clinical matron for plastic surgery is Anthea Davison.

 

 

 

 

Our admin supporting team

Plastic surgery is closely affiliated with the orthopaedic department, as well as the maxillofacial, dermatology and ENT departments.

Our service manager is Phil Archman.

The clinical and managerial staff work together to provide a high level of patient care and are working continually to develop new and improved services for patients. Donna Barry is our Waiting list manager and our secretaries are Louise Swinnerton, Claire Smith, Claire Cheesebrough and Cathy Booth.
