Extra resources make hospital life more comfortable
While NHS funding pays for much of the vital equipment and facilities our hospitals and community services need, there are many extra resources which make life more comfortable and healthcare more efficient for our patients, visitors and staff, that NHS finances cannot stretch to.
For example, our successful £500,000 kidney unit appeal has enabled us to improve our existing space for renal patients. The funds helped to create a bright, modern and welcoming environment for the growing number of patients who use this service. It will also increase clinical space and bring our renal specialist nursing team together in one place.
Whether it's state of the art equipment, pioneering research, increasing staff training or improving staff health and wellbeing, we're committed to helping our hospitals go further.
By improving the look and feel of an environment as well as making better use of the space we have available, we can bring teams of staff together in one place and make healthcare more efficient for the benefit of both patients and staff, as well as providing a more comfortable, bright and welcoming place to receive treatment and to work.
In the case of many of our projects, the work we have done has enabled us to deliver care closer to people’s homes, such as the delivery of a new MRI scanner at The Friarage Hospital, which means patients in North Yorkshire and Richmondshire no longer have to travel to Middlesbrough for an MRI scan.
Future plans
We have big ambitions to continue to make a difference to the experience of patients who need to be cared for in the trust’s hospitals and community services.
