Armed Forces Week 2026
To mark Armed Forces Week which runs from Monday 22 to Sunday 27 June, we will be hosting a wide range of events to celebrate and thank our Armed Forces communit.
Flag raising ceremonies
Special flag raising ceremonies will be held in honour of Armed Forces Day on Monday 22 June 2026 from 9am to 9.30am at the flagpoles across our four main hospital sites at:
- James Cook
- Friarage Hospital
- University Hospital of North Tees
- University Hospital of Hartlepool
Armed Forces services
Our chaplaincy colleagues will host special ceremonies to recognise and pay tribute to our Armed Forces community on:
- Monday 22 June, 10.30am to 11am, chapel, James Cook
- Tuesday 23 June, 10.30am to 11am, chapel, University Hospital of North Tees
- Thursday 25 June, 10.30am to 11am, chapel, University Hospital of Hartlepool
- Friday 26 June, 10.30am to 11am, chapel, Friarage Hospital
Awareness stalls
We will be hosting several Royal British Legion awareness events throughout the week from 10am to 3.30pm:
- Monday 22 to Friday 26 June, main atrium, James Cook and cafe hub, Friarage
- Monday 22 and Wednesday 24 June, University Hospital of North Tees, main concourse.
- Monday 22, Tuesday 23 and Friday 26 June, University Hospital of Hartlepool, entrance/lobby
There will be support from the Royal British Legion and military personnel working across our hospital group who are based at Joint Hospital Group North.
Remembrance Garden
In 2022 we built a remembrance garden which was opened during our Armistice day service by the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire , Mrs Johanna Ropner.
