Changes to audiology services

From Tuesday 1 December 2020 the age related adult hearing service across the Tees Valley CCG area which includes Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton and Hartlepool localities will no longer be provided by South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This means the trust will no longer be able to provide hearing aid and aftercare support for patients who are on an AQP pathway*.

There are a number of other providers across the Tees Valley area who provide this service that will be able to support patients and ensure the continuity of their care. We have provided a list of these below, which includes location, opening times and contact numbers:

Patients are advised to contact one of the providers listed as and when they require further support with their hearing care. All of the providers listed are aware of the closure of the South Tees service and that patients may contact them regarding their care, which includes support with any changes or concerns regarding hearing, hearing aids and battery replacements.

We apologise for any inconvenience this change of service provider may cause. Please do not hesitate to contact us on 01642 854051 if you have any further queries regarding this matter.

*AQP pathway = Direct Adult Hearing Services for individuals aged 55 and over to provide a comprehensive service for adults experiencing hearing and communication difficulties who feel they might benefit from hearing assessment and rehabilitation including the option of trying hearing aids with aftercare and support. It is a pathway used by GPs within North or South Tees region and excludes North Yorkshire GPs. Individuals being referred via this pathway should not report any significant medical problems with ears that require medical management.
