Developmental dysplasia of the hip is a condition where the ball and socket joint of the hip does not properly form in babies and young children.
It’s sometimes called congenital dislocation of the hip, or hip dysplasia.
Referrals come directly to the service from neonatal teams at North Tees and South Tees. Babies can be referred directly from ultrasound if an abnormality is found on a scan.
We run a one stop clinic where babies are seen on the same day as their ultrasound scan.
The ultrasound scan takes place in the main radiology (x-ray) department.
The clinic appointment is in children’s outpatients (James Cook).
