A biopsy is taking a piece of tissue to send to the lab to investigate.
This may be done in clinic under local anaesthetic (numbing).
It may be performed by putting a needle into the lump (called a fine needle aspirate or FNA).
You may need to go to theatre for a general anaesthetic (asleep) to have your biopsy.
